In 1922 a group of Portuguese residents in the city of Elizabeth launched the idea of founding a Club that not only facilitated the meeting and strengthened the friendship of the then Portuguese residents, but also honored and dignified the Portuguese colony in the United States. Then was born the Portuguese Social Club.
